Biography
In 1991 President Bush appointed Monti L. Belot to fill a new Kansas judgeship created by the Judicial Improvement Act. Judge Belot received both his undergraduate and juris doctor degrees from the University of Kansas. After graduating from law school in 1968, he served as an officer in Judge Advocate Generals (JAG) Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserve. He next clerked for then Chief Judge Wesley Brown and then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Judge Belot was in private practice for fifteen years prior to his appointment. He assumed senior status in March 2008, and continues to sit on the federal bench in Wichita.
