Carlos Murguia
U.S. District Court, District of KansasThe District Court's twenty-fifth judge is Carlos Murguia, the first Hispanic named to the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas. Kansas City, Kansas is the hometown of Judge Murguia. He grew up in the Argentine community and established a law practice there after graduating from law school. Judge Murguia received both his undergraduate and juris doctor degrees from the University of Kansas. After law school, he combined private practice and public service. Besides his solo practice, Judge Murguia was the immigration coordinator for El Centro, Inc., the Wyandotte County District Court small claims judge, judge pro tem and hearing officer. In 1990 he was named a Kansas District Court Judge for the 29th Judicial District (Wyandotte County). Judge Murguia has been a member of many legal, civic and charitable boards and committees. Judge Murguia sits on the federal bench in Kansas City, Kansas.
